Piedmont SAP Services exists to highlight the SAP services that have been available at Recovery Dynamics since 2010. 

 

Why do I need a SAP evaluation?

You need a SAP evaluation because you are in a US DOT safety-sensitive position and have failed a drug or alcohol test.  You are prohibited from preforming any safety-sensitive duties until the SAP process is complete.

What’s the process?

​

1.  You meet with a DOT qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) for an Initial Evaluation.  You will complete an interview and assessment paperwork to determine the exact circumstances of your infraction and recommend an appropriate education or treatment program needed to allow you to return to work.  The Initial Evaluation costs $250.

2.  You will be referred to another agency to complete whatever program was recommended by the Initial Assessment.  (This prevents the SAP from having a monetary interest in your program.) 

3.  After you complete the recommendations, you meet again with the SAP for a Final Evaluation.  If it is determined you have successfully complied with all recommendations, you will be cleared for a return-to-duty drug test.  This Final Evaluation costs another $250. 

4.  The SAP will report your successful completion to the state DMV, and the employer of record at the time of the infraction.  The employer will also get a follow-up testing schedule, required by the DOT, for additional future drug tests.  These tests, like the return-to-duty test, are required to be direct observe, and are in addition to any random or for-cause tests you may be required to take in the course of your employment.
